STEPS TO MAKE THIS PIE

  1. Prepare this instant chocolate pudding. Depending on the brand you buy, it may require different amounts of milk. It is so nice that this recipe calls for instant pudding because it just speeds up the process of this easy pie even a little bit more!
  2. Once the pudding is ready, pour a little less than half of the chocolate pudding in to your premade graham cracker crust! I also love that I can just go pick up a graham cracker crust from my local grocery store, and i don’t have to worry about slaving away over a homemade crust!
  3. Mix the remaining chocolate pudding with about half of the whipped cream! Stir well, so that the mixture is one creamy chocolate color. This mixture creates the next layer of the chocolate pie. Spread this mixture over the chocolate pudding base layer.
  4. Next, spread and smooth the remainder of the whipped cream over the creamy chocolate layer. This will be the last layer of your pie.
  5. Take the Hershey’s bar and with a potato peeler, shave little chocolate swirls to sprinkle on top of the white creamy whipped cream layer. These shavings add delicious rich chocolate flavors and also help to make the pie look beautiful
  6. Refrigerate this pie for just an hour before serving. Chilling the pie helps it to set, and also it tastes incredible when it is cold!

That is it! How easy is this pie! You will be done with a delicious dessert in ten minute tops! It is so great to have something so amazing done so quickly. We know that you are going to be in love with this Pie and that it will become one of your new favorites! How could it not?

FAQs

How do you keep a pudding pie from getting watery? ›

To fix this, you can cook the pudding mixture over low heat until it thickens, or add a thickener such as cornstarch or tapioca flour. Another possible reason for a runny banana cream pie is that the pie filling was not chilled properly before being added to the crust.

What can I add to pudding to make it better? ›

Sprinkle in chopped nuts, chocolate chips or baking spices like cinnamon or freshly grated nutmeg. Don't be surprised if folks go back for seconds! And you can always top with sprinkles, too. They make everything more fun!

How to jazz up instant pudding? ›

Stir a mix-in into the pudding before letting it chill in the refrigerator. The options are nearly endless, but a few ideas include crushed Oreos, chopped peanuts or pecans, sliced strawberries or bananas, pumpkin spice, or crushed pretzels.

Why won t my pudding pie set? ›

If your almond milk-based instant pudding isn't setting properly for your pie, you can try these quick solutions: gently heat and stir the mixture on the stovetop, add a small amount of cornstarch or gelatin, mix in a bit more instant pudding mix, or let it set in the refrigerator for more time.

How do you thicken pudding pie filling? ›

i want to use the pudding as a filling, its way too thin right now, how can i make it thicker? Whipping a cup of heavy cream and folding it in works nicely for me. I use one box of pudding, 1 cup of milk, 1/4 cup of powdered sugar.

How do you upgrade instant chocolate pudding? ›

Top with whipped cream or whipped topping and sprinkle with shaved chocolate or cocoa powder. Layer pudding with crushed cookies or graham crackers for a parfait. Top with fresh berries like strawberries, raspberries or blueberries. Drizzle with caramel or chocolate sauce.

Does Cool Whip thicken pudding? ›

I used to make my banana pudding with homemade whipped cream because I do prefer to use from-scratch whole food ingredients. However, I found that when you use the cool whip it helps to stabilize the rest of the ingredients and results in a thicker pudding.

Can you use heavy whipping cream in pudding? ›

You can make the whipped pudding thicker or thinner depending on how much heavy whipping cream you add. If you are looking for a thicker consistency (to eat with a spoon, or use as a cake filling), add a little less heavy cream. If you want to use it as a donut filling, use a little more, so that it's easily pipeable.

What is the best thickener for pudding? ›

Measure an alternative starch-based thickener, such as arrowroot powder, tapioca powder or rice starch, and combine it with the sugar called for in your pudding recipe. These alternative starches are comparable to cornstarch in thickening power, and twice as potent as wheat flour, so measure accordingly.

How to improve chocolate pudding mix? ›

Add more flavor

A bit of espresso powder can make chocolate puddings taste more chocolaty—add more for a mocha flavor. You can stir in a bit of your favorite liqueur too. A splash of Irish cream, creme de menthe or even bourbon can take your go-to pudding recipe to a new place.

Can you over mix instant pudding? ›

The answer is not so easy. Baking Kneads points out that if you mix your pudding too much, it can also become watery. However, if you don't mix it enough, you will have the other extreme where your ingredients were not properly combined. Neither of these is ideal.

Can I use condensed milk instead of milk in pudding? ›

Yes, sweetened condensed milk can be substituted for regular milk in instant banana cream pudding.

Why is my pudding pie runny? ›

Pudding is usually runny because it has been stored in the refrigerator for too long or in an open space. Another cause could be due to improper cooking methods.

Why is my chocolate pudding pie runny? ›

This can happen for several reasons: if the cooking process was rushed, if the filling wasn't carefully watched and stirred frequently, the filling was overcooked, the stovetop heat was too high, or if the pie isn't given enough time to chill. Any ingredient substitutions could also result in a runny chocolate pie.

Why did my pie turn out watery? ›

The starch and pectin in the filling needs to set. If you add cornstarch or flour to the filling it gels st oven temperatures and sets once it has cooled. The same is true for the natural pectin in many fruits. If you cut the pie before the filling has set, it will never solidify and your pie will be runny.
